Still seeking stork

Yesterday I was visiting with my BFF since he had custody of his kids this weekend. He has a 4 year old daughter & a 2 year old son (my godson) so there's lots of Disney stuff in his house. His kids popped "Dumbo" into the DVD player while I was over; it's easily been 20 years since I last saw it. Here's the opening scene:

As a child it never crossed my mind the heartache Dumbo's mom felt in the opening scene as all the other circus animals were visited by the stork, leaving her without a baby of her own. Now, as an infertile adult, I totally feel for her, even if she is just a cartoon elephant.

Oh my gosh, that made me so sad!

That just made me tear up. I'd forgotten almost every scene in that movie except the one where Dumbo visits his "jailed" mom and she rocks him in her trunk. I don't know why that scene made such an impression on me as a child...still makes me tear up thinking about it.

P.S. I suppose we should take some comfort that Dumbo did eventually come to his momma. He was just a little late due to an incompetent stork.

That was so heartbreaking to watch - probably even more so because I know how maternal elephants are in the wild. I'm glad she got Dumbo in the end.

How sad that we can relate to the cartoon so well. I watched friend after friend have their babies and it a horrible feeling as you well know. We were finally blessed with our son through adoption but it was a long road and a even longer wait. Hoping your stork comes soon.
