We booked our honeymoon: 4 nights at the Venetian in Las Vegas next month. It was affordable & neither of us have ever been to the southwestern US. Plus, I know folks who frequent LV & say this hotel is awesome; all their rooms are suites. I'd like to see if we can do a day trip to the Grand Canyon; I've always wanted to go & don't honestly know the next time we'll be in the area. Neither Vid nor I are gamblers but we may take in a show or 2; I'm sure we'll have a blast. I'm just sooo excited to be going on a real vacation this year!
TTC since 2008. 8 IUIs, 3 IVFs & 1 FET later we're still not pregnant & running out of options.

Wedding pictures!!!
Here's the link:
http://jaimeafrique.googlepages.com/weddingpics
This is just a small sampling of the over 500 photos taken by my friend/photographer who did an AMAZING job! I'll post more when I have time.
I am also happy to report I really like my in-laws! They are coming back to RI for the 4th of July & we are hoping to take them to Washington DC thereafter. Vid has also never been to DC & is very excited. My dad is taking him to a NASCAR race in NH this weekend so he can learn a thing or two about redneck culture. I can't wait for the stories!

Clear the road!
Just as it looks like my grandfather will be losing his license, Vid got his license on the second try. Now all he needs to do is get a job so he can pay for the insurance to drive.
Today is the day before the wedding; so much to do & I'm trying not to murder Vidya with all the complaining about getting things done; he is the king of procrastination. I'm more looking forward to having everything over with finally since I was all for just going to Vegas since the beginning but was basically guilt tripped into this. Whatever; I'm sure I'll think it was worth it 20 years from now or something.
I had a root canal yesterday morning then got mehendi done in the afternoon & did laundry last night since Saturday is my normal laundry day. Today I cooked breakfast for tomorrow morning, washed the floors & am currently burning CDs for the reception (DIY DJ). His parents should be arriving with his sister any minute so I'm very much looking forward to that. There's a glass of wine with my name on it tonight for sure!

How do I know it's the week of my wedding?
Because shit like this happens:
My grandparents (dad's side) got into a horrendous car accident this morning. My mom saw 4 cars in various states of smashing on her way home from Walmart & thought "dayum, what a weird accident". She no sooner pulls in the driveway then my dad calls & says g-parents were in an accident, the very one she just drove past. Their car somehow made it to the highway, 4 flat tires, all smashed up. G-pa remembers nothing of this; apparently Walmart has it on film from their security cameras.
Ambulances came & took them to the hospital. G-ma's arm is being checked out because it's killing her, plus her neck; she pops Klonapin like candy on a good day so needless to say this has put her into neurotic overdrive. G-pa's BGL was 400+ (he's diabetic) & they did a CAT scan since he remembered nothing; it looks like he may have had a stroke. So they are keeping him for tests indefinitely; he is not happy & my dad is still at the hospital almost 12 hours later waiting to find out what the next step is.
The police now want to charge him with leaving the scene of an accident among other things; incredible. G-ma doesn't have a license & when my mom said she though they may take away his license I asked her who she thought would drive them everywhere, to which she responded, "Not it!".
God only knows if one or both of them will be at the wedding. I need a draaank...

They're heeeereee...
My in-laws, that is. They arrived today from Chennai via Frankfurt. Vid met them at the airport; it was the first time they'd seen each other since he left India to come to the US for grad school 6 years ago. They made it through customs with no problem which I'm kind of shocked at since they had 4 suitcases full of mostly saris & jewelry. They are staying at his sister's in NH for the week & will be coming down with her for the wedding. I'm super excited to meet them & hope everything goes as according to plan as possible.

I sound like a 3 year old
This post can be filed under "w" for "whiney".
So I found out today that I didn't get the job. Not that I wasn't qualified, but because I (heaven forbid) wanted to have a paycheck attached to it. I'd love to know how they found someone to do it for free; there aren't too many independently wealthy people running around here that I've seen. Actually, the current director told me I was her top choice but given the current budget woes a decision had to be made. I cried when I read the e-mail letting me know their decision this afternoon & have been bitchy since.
But I should've known it was going to be "one of those days" when at about 11am my supervisor tells me he is taking a couple of mental health days & "should be back Wednesday". Not good when you're a psychiatric social worker. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if he took an extra few days; many people at my place of employment seem to be at their breaking point, myself included.
I am seriously thinking about going back on an anti-depressant. I'm burnt out emotionally as well as financially & motivationally. I hate my job. I've lost all patience with my husband who has been unemployed for over 6 months now (not completely his fault). Everyone around me seems to be moving forward with life, except me.
I hate how whiney I sound as I type this; I sound like a 3 year old. Somebody smack me!

Tick, tick, tick...
So my BFF tells me today he & his wife are expecting #2. I am so thrilled for them; it's something they've been trying for for about a year now. Maybe it's just because I'm "at that age" (29) but it seems everyone around me is having babies (see previous post). My supervisor & his wife just found out they were expecting a couple of weeks ago as well. The hubby & I plan on trying to join this seemingly ever growing group later this year (pending him getting a freaking job) so it's not like parenthood is something out of reach in my near future. I have other friends (a married couple I've known forever; him since elementary school, her since high school) who are also trying for #2. I secretly hope she gets knocked up around the same time as me so I have a "preggo buddy" to go through the experience with. Am I weird for that? Probably. No, make that definitely.
And as I sit here I'm on my last pack of birth control pills. We'll be practicing Roman Catholics (I'm a confirmed Catholic, though I obviously don't follow all the rules) for a few months until my cycles straighten out & I can start charting. We have sex about once a week as it is so avoiding during the danger period shouldn't be a problem. And of course as I type this I'm thinking in the back of my mind "With your luck you'd be part of that unlucky 15%".
The plan is to start trying to get knocked up (as in "I'm ovulating now, so let me have my way with you!") around Thanksgiving/Christmas; I'd like to be with child by my 30th birthday next April. Ultimately, it's up to the Man Upstairs I guess.
